Which type of battery is better for AGV?

Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) have been widely used in industrial transportation and other fields due to their strong reliability, low labor costs, and high operational convenience. Among them, the power battery is a key component to ensure the reliable operation of AGVs. So, which type of battery has a better AGV?

1. Lead acid batteries
The advantages of low cost, mature technology, and high reliability, but the disadvantages of low specific energy and power, make it a common power source for AGV applications

2. Hydrogen nickel battery
Has good specific energy and power characteristics, and weak battery memory effect. However, expensive metals such as nickel and cobalt must be used in its production materials, making it difficult to reduce the cost of large-scale production

3. Lithium batteries
Lithium batteries have advantages such as low discharge rate (usually less than 5% per month), no memory effect, high specific energy, high output power, fast charging, and long cycle life. In the use of AGVs, lithium batteries can fully meet their needs and are easy to maintain

4. Supercapacitors
The main advantage of supercapacitors is their fast charging and discharging characteristics and high cycle life. With the overall cost reduction in the industry, hybrid supercapacitors have initially gained the ability to enter the AGV power battery market, and their unit cycle life price is lower than that of lithium batteries

With the improvement of AGV performance, its practical application range will be further expanded. Therefore, for some working conditions where the working cycle is short and the load is high, AGV cars should use high specific power power batteries. On the contrary, products with high specific energy should be used. When AGV transport vehicles operate under extreme temperature conditions, the wide temperature range characteristics of the battery are key to continuous operation.
